By chance, and I realize this may be too soon to ask but I have to ask nonetheless, does anyone know of any 3rd party Outlook color theme alternatives? As the audience for Office grows, we are being mindful of patterns and pain points that emerge from user feedback. While we do not have any additional Themes planned at this time, it is an issue we are watching very closely.

By default the White theme is set to use in Office applications. We can change the background theme used to either Light Gray or Dark Gray by doing the following and check. Go to the File tab. Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. MS has a very large audience, so if you want your suggestion to be acted upon you need many people to make the same suggestion. That way replies can be specific to that error. And it makes it easier for MS to assign a submission to a specific development group or person. Unfortunately I am not running Office I have Microsoft Office Pro installed. Would the same apply?

Now I understand and for me I will continue to run Outlook and maybe, just maybe in the future there will be additional themes as the Outlook colors are pretty bad and quite limited.

I suppose if I can’t handle it I could uninstall and reinstall an older version. At least I have the option. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. The color schemes are not a part of Office that are open to customization.

AFIK they are completely built in to the program. Posting your question here is one way of letting MS know that you are not satisfied with them. Here are a few other places you can make suggestions. There is a tiny chance that MS will listen to us. There was a lot of public outcry about that and the final version shipped with the 3 current options.

But, I suspect they other 2 colors were already being developed and planned for inclusion. Personally, I’ve suggested to MS that they simply include and color schemes updated to work with The more people who make the point, the more likely MS is to act.

With Office installed, I put in the Office installation disk and selected the “custom” installation. I then deselected everything except Outlook and let the installation run. After that I had Outlook with all the changeable, adjustable features again. Thanks, Eric. What Mike did was install and run Outlook You would first have to uninstall Outlook so that you could replace it with Outlook Then, YES. But you will not have full integration between Outlook and Word. Things like templates and dictionaries will not synchronize. You have to uninstall Outlook specifically because you are running the local install of Office The way Outlook is written, the Office installer will not allow you to have 2 local install copies of Outlook in the same windows session.

In reply to Rohn’s post on September 17, Thank you very much for your input. The new Outlook theme options are horrible! Everything blend together and is hard to make out. It’s as if Microsoft took a step back with this one. As much as I am trying to tolerate, I am considering giving up all of the options for the nice, clean Outlook look.

Time to uninstall Outlook ! Was someone like really depressed when they came up with these color options and the menu scheme??? In reply to Girish M’s post on July 20, Light Gray and Dark Gray are not good alternatives to the all white problems I’m having with the Outlook look. Dark Gray is the only thing that is tolerable at the moment.

And tolerable is not a good thing for a heavy email user like me. Please bump up the color customization to high priority. In reply to P1ggy’s post on November 14, I have to agree with all of the negative comments on this string. The Outlook color? With all of the great new features in Outlook, it’s unfortunate that the monochrome look makes one feel like they are using a 10 year-old program.

Let us have fun with our new HD displays! I never thought MS folk would want to live in such a dull, gray world. Seattle weather side effect? PLEASE prioritize the addition of a new upgrade pack that allows us to once again live in a world of color. Don’t be silly. White, gray, and gray I think that you can safely assume almost noone here is refering to gray or any shade of it.
