My boss bought me a touchscreen laptop that I never use since I have dual monitors, I hate it. The touchscreen is a real B in the business analytic world. This morning everything works, but tomorrow or even later today it’ll be back to not working.
I have sizing issues with my Office programs. Sometimes my Word will open tiny and I wont even be able to see the margin marker on the ruler at the top of the page, and then I’ll go to Save As and the window that pops up will be huge. Like I said this morning everything is working so I can’t create screen shots – of course Excel does a lot of what Word does, sometimes it’s tiny, others it’s huge.
When it happens again I’ll respond to this post with screen shots as I’m sure it wont take 24 hours to go wrong on me again. You might try completely disabling touch mode. It sounds like there might be some “clicking” occurring without your knowledge.
I’ve encountered this occasionally. It’s maddening. To disable the touch screen, right-click your Start button and then click Device Manager. Under Human Interface Devices , locate your touch screen. Double-click it to open its properties and on the Driver tab, click Disable. Very odd, I already did those steps end of last year to disable the touch screen.
Now when I go into Device Manager they’re enabled again I even tried to Update the Driver, says I’m current. Let’s see how long this setting lasts this time Also, the Touch Mode option in the Office apps doesn’t disable touch.
All that does is make the ribbon buttons a little large and add more space to optimize them for touch. Yes thanks Beth, I was aware of that.

All that does is make the ribbon buttons a little large and add more space to optimize them for touch. Yes thanks Beth, I was aware of that. I’ve already done a lot of little tricks with everything I could find, I just dont always remember to type everything I’ve done over the past 8 months dealing with it. Doesnt matter, nothing that I do works or lasts for long. I had to disable Touch Mode in Outlook because it was making everything huge, since I’m sure with a touch screen computer Microsoft assumes you’re actually going to use it too and would need to make everything bigger in order for your finger to touch on it.
So day before I showed you pics of my computer looking normal and today, even with everything disabled, I’m back to thing being large acting like I want to use the touchscreen. Look at my scroll bar on the side of my browser and the scroll bar while I’m trying to type this message Shouldn’t be that wide. I dont understand why my settings dont stay and appear to always reset on me.
I wanted to post 2 pictures of the sizing problems I’m having since I knew it wouldnt take long for them to happen again. To note, I have dual 24″ wide screen monitors. In these pictures I’m showing you, they take up my entire screen! Not normal. Again takes up the entire screen it opens so large due to the touch screen issue. Headers and Footers not the same in Word from Word – Microsoft Community
We have document templates set up to include letter head images in a footer, which we have used for the last 5 years and updated when we upgrade to I have just completed a document and tried to print this but it now won’t show the footer images in normal working view unless I open the footer then they show up fine.
They show up fine in the print preview however will not print. From the last part of your description, the issue just might be white space: if you have the “white space between pages” hidden, then not only are the header and footer hidden but also anything anchored to the header or footer.
So if, for example, you have a full-page background graphic anchored to the header, it won’t be displayed if the white space is hidden. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help.
